Happy Father's Day
Dad and me sitting on front porch at home sometime in 1954. My gosh, I remember that toy I am holding in this picture. It is a windup, mechanical rabbit. Wind it up and the tail will twist about.

Snake Story
My typical morning journey to work begins with a mile long walk to Lowes on US 1 where Dr. W picks me up for the run down I-26 to O'burg. This morning I spotted a small snake on the sidewalk along US 1 a few hundred feet from Lowes. The snake was dead and was coiled up. Being curious I picked it up so that Dr. W, a biologist, could identify it. So there I was walking down US 1, one of the heaviest commuter routes in the area, holding a dead snake. Wishing to avoid any reactions from the folks driving by I started holding the dead snake next to my body. Then traffic began to slow down and I was walking alongside a landscaping truck. Three folks were inside it, an older guy driving and two 20-somethings, all crammed into the front seat. The traffic just crept along and I was able to walk abreast of the truck. Then for some unknown reason the guy next to the window started giving me some crap. I don't know why. Perhaps he was hoping to ruin my day. Who knows? So before I could think things out I tossed the dead snake into the truck cab. Boy it was a blast watching those idiots jumping around in that truck cab. Then I began to freak about the truck turning into Lowes and me getting my ass kicked, but they keep going. Made my day.
